17.07.2019- What I Wore Today #377

Although there are definitely pieces in my wardrobe which tend to lend themselves better to certain times of the year than others, over the last few years I’ve been quite savvy about investing in staples which work all year round, particularly when it comes to dresses. If I’m honest, I’ve always had a little bit of a love/hate relationship with frocks, which can largely be attributed to spending most of my late teens and early twenties struggling to find styles which fitted me properly (tall person problems!), but now that I’ve discovered a perfect formula for what works best, I tend to prefer shopping around for slightly more relaxed styles which lend themselves to casual day-to-day dressing as well as the odd special occasion or two:

Dress- Gestuz (via John Lewis)
Jacket- Marks and Spencer
Shoes- Jigsaw

I spotted this Gestuz dress on Katy’s Instagram a few months ago, and it look me all of 5 minutes to add it to my bag! Not only was it a great purchase for a work event, it’s also had a fair bit of wear since then too, particularly on warmer weekends, and I love the relaxed fit and print- ideal when I’m after something easy to wear which still makes a statement. Not only that, it’s served to remind me just how much I love longer skirts- and how I should embrace styling them more, especially for ease at this time of the year and as we head into autumn too. I can’t wait to layer it under some of my favourite knits too- not to wish away the summer at all!

Have you invested in any new pieces recently?
