19.08.2020- What I Wore Today #427

Wednesday, 19 August 2020

Phew...! Now that the heatwave of last week has eased off (I think I spent the majority of each day lying down with a cold flannel on my head), it's nice to feel slightly more human again. I have never loved the heat, and sustained temperatures over thirty degrees in the UK combined with the tropical nights are perhaps the most concrete sign so far (if it were needed) that our climate is changing rapidly. I also can't help but feel that a lot of the environmental gains which we'd made over the last few years, particularly in relation to recycling, sustainable shopping and single use plastic, have gone slightly out of the window as a result of the pandemic...I really hope that we can get to a place where things start to balance out again soon. Being mindful of my own consumption is something which I've thought about a lot during lockdown too, and as I've gotten older I've focused more in buying pieces of clothing which are investments for the long term:

Dress- Kemi Telford
Jacket- Soeur (via Tidy Street Store)
Sunglasses- c/o Ray-Ban
Shoes- Adidas

This Kemi Telford dress was a start of summer purchase, made after a long time spent admiring Yvonne's beautiful pieces, and I couldn't be happier with my buy! I've always loved gingham and how timeless it feels, so I know that this dress will be a real keeper for years to come- especially as it's perfect for the summer. I've been wearing it religiously over the last few weeks, so expect to see plenty more of it on these pages soon!

Which summer staples have you been living in lately?
