31.08.2020- Beauty Buys: At Home Spa Staples

Although life has been easing back to some sense of normality over recent weeks, I'm sure that I'm not the only one feeling slightly reticent about embracing all of this new found freedom (if you can call it that!) I'm still erring very much on the side of caution in terms of staying at home as much as possible, being diligent with my mask wearing, social distancing...generally abiding by all of the rules going! I think the most extreme things I've been up to of late have been making a couple of train journeys and going for a massage to alleviate some of the tension in my neck and shoulders, and as winter approaches I'm sure that I'll be continuing to err on the side of caution. As much as I would love a facial, I think it'll be a few weeks yet before I treat myself, and with that in mind I've been trying to channel some 'at the spa' vibes at home with a selection of beauty buys which have been absolute heroes over the last few months:

I've been a big fan of Original Skin by Origins for a good few years now, as it's perfect for regular use without leaving the skin feeling too dry or agitated. During lockdown I rebought it and have been using it a couple of times a week for the last few months; it's definitely made my skin feel really thoroughly cleansed and the Rose Clay is brilliant for drawing out impurities, especially if your skin (like mine!) sits on the oilier side of the spectrum. Herbivore's Bakuchiol Smoothing Serum is a fairly recent addition to my skincare stash, but it's one which I'm getting along really well with so far. As a complexion booster, it's brilliant, and I've been using it in the evenings to really capitalise on the regenerating powers which it promises- so far, so impressed!

Sometimes with skincare it's also really lovely to revisit the old hero items- and this Pai Cleansing Cloth has been a real saving grace for me recently. Pre-pandemic, I'd always tend to be in a bit of a rush when it came to my cleansing routine, but with the luxury of a little bit more time at the moment, I've been reaching for a warm flannel to open up my pores and gently exfoliate. As well as doing the trick wonderfully (sometimes the oldest hacks are the best!), it's also really comforting too- and, even better, this was a great tool to have at my disposal during the heatwave a few weeks ago, soaked in cold water and more or less constantly attached to my forehead or the back of my neck! Finally, one of my all-time favourites in the shape of Ren's Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Anti-Fatigue Body Wash- the ideal product if you're suffering from all sorts of laptop related stiffness in the shoulders, and also if you find yourself feeling slightly fatigued...which I think can be said for most of us right now!

Which products have you been using at home recently?
