11.12.2020- Socially Distanced Diaries: RHS Wisley

Whilst life is still quite uncertain at the moment, I'm thankful for the little pockets of enjoyment which I've been finding wherever I can. Over the summer months, one of the things which kept me on the right footing was being able to get out into the garden, and embarking upon some planting projects which I'd been putting off for far too long. Similarly, being able to get out and about in the fresh air for some serious walks over the last few months has definitely been a real mood-booster, so when the opportunity arose to combine a crisp winter wander with soaking up some garden inspiration, it seemed like the ultimate in ideal combinations:

RHS Wisley is a Surrey spot which I only discovered a few years ago, but it really is the pinnacle of plant perfection. Set 240 acres, the garden encompasses a wonderful variety of plants, including an expansive orchard, glasshouse (although closed for the time being) and several glorious opportunities to walk about in the wilderness. As well as that, it's home to one of the best plant centres I think I've ever visited (yes I did take the opportunity to stock up!), and even in the winter it's a perfect prospect for a spot of socially-distanced catching up. Katharine and I headed there last Saturday and had a lovely day out- clocking up some steps and admiring lots of lovely plants- I know I definitely left with some spring garden inspiration under my hat!

Have you visited anywhere local lately?
