25.03.2014- Bloomin' Lovely

Whilst florals for spring might not be the most groundbreaking of style statements, there's no denying that they are a real season to season favourite, as well as being ultra easy to wear. For SS14, pretty prints and beautiful botanicals are set to be as popular as ever, but have been injected with a crisp, contemporary feel which taps into a cool, effortless and modern approach to dressing- sort of sports luxe meets Gardener's World, if you will!

Christopher Kane Flower Lace Insert Sweatshirt, £330, Net-a-Porter/Blurred Floral Scuba Top, £28, Topshop/Florida Bloom Mesh Dress, £150, French Connection/Christopher Kane Printed Cotton T-Shirt, £180, Net-a-Porter/Mini Fan Print Trousers, £42, Oasis/Rhinestone Necklace, £19.99, Zara/Christopher Kane Petal Cotton and Cashmere Blend T-Shirt, £180, Net-a-Porter/iPad Mini Case, £7.50 (was £15), ASOS.

Christopher Kane's SS14 collection is perhaps one of the most coveted for the new season, and it's easy to see why. His modern take on florals for spring offers slogan sweaters like this gorgeous 'Flower' design, evoking a subtle, fashion forward take on a spring staple, and ticking plenty of trend boxes with the pastel palette and sports luxe inspiration. If you're after an instant floral fashion fix, then look no further than Topshop and this scuba style top- an ideal way to inject a touch of new season chic into your wardrobe without breaking the bank, and the blurred effect also offers a lovely subtle nod to this season's penchant for all things painterly.

With summer on the horizon, my thoughts are rapidly turning to September when I'll be heading to my first wedding! One of my loveliest friends is getting married in Cambridge in September, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I've already been scouring the shops for the perfect wedding guest attire. Over the weekend I stumbled across this gorgeous green dress from French Connection, and suffice it to say that it's rocketed right to the top of my shopping list. Green isn't normally a go-to shade for me, but the subtle, summer ready print here is perfect for effortless formal dressing. If you're after a complete departure from traditional florals then look no further than this cross-section print- another standout piece from Christopher Kane for SS14. Not only is this the perfect addition to any casual wardrobe, but I think it also lends itself really nicely to an effortless, more formal aesthetic too.

Regular readers will know that I'm a huge fan of printed trousers, and this pair from Oasis are a real gem of a find. The pattern is perfect for the tricky transitional phase which we find ourselves in at the moment, and the dark navy colourway is ideal for contrasting with spring brights. This necklace from Zara may not be strictly floral, but it's a lovely accent piece and a must-have for tying a spring look together. More Christopher Kane loveliness is to be found in this 'Petal' motif tee, again a pretty pastel served with a generous helping of modern sensibility. Finally, I've been looking for a cover for my iPad mini for ages, and think I've found the perfect one in this floral number from ASOS- spring ready and in the sale- what's not to love?

Have you spotted any favourite spring pieces recently?
