11.06.2014- World Cup Wishlist

Anyone who knows me well will happily tell you that I absolutely hate football. Whilst I have all the time in the world for a certain Mr Beckham, I'm really not a fan of the game as a whole- particularly as there are so many other sports which I enjoy so much more but which get comparatively little funding and attention. Having said that, there's no escaping the fact that the World Cup is just around the corner, and whilst I can't guarantee that I'll be tuned in, I'm really excited to see how Brazil steps up to hosting the event. It's definitely a country which is firmly on my 'to visit' list, and I've been feeling pretty inspired by the riot of South American inspired styles which have been hitting the shops in preparation for kick off later on this week. So, whether you're heading out to support your team, will be watching from the comfort of the sofa/local pub or are determined to make the most of the duration of the tournament to enjoy comparatively empty shopping centres, streets and cinemas (!), there are plenty of pieces in the shops at the moment to inject a splash of Brazilian bonanza into your wardrobe:

Essie Haute in Heat Nail Polish, £7.99, Boots/Cambridge Satchel Shoulder Bag in Bellflower Blue, £235, Spade Silk Frill Shell Top, £124.80, Nordstrom/Kate Spade Hutton Tropical Print Lounge Pants, £162.61, Nordstrom/Bib Collar Necklace, £22, Accessorize/Tiny Teardrop Studs, £5, Warehouse/Cat Eye Sunglasses, £45, & Other Stories/Silver Metallic Sandals, £28, River Island.

If you're looking to inject a splash of summer colour into your life, then search no further than Essie's drop of new season shades. After snapping up some of their spring offerings a few weeks back, I've added this gorgeous summer colour to my shopping list- the perfect fuchsia pink to complement or even contrast some old wardrobe favourites. Whether you're heading away over the summer or are staying at home, there are few things which are more essential than a sturdy, versatile handbag. I've been umming and aahing over splashing out on a Cambridge Satchel for a while now, and after spying this gorgeous pale blue design on their website over the weekend, I think it's safe to say that my mind is well and truly made up! Not only is it the ideal size, but the study structure means that it would be a real investment piece too.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you'll have seen that about a week or so ago I fell head over heels in love with a brilliantly bold combination from Kate Spade. This pink blouse and botanical print pair of trousers are from their high summer Rio collection, so I couldn't resist featuring them in this little roundup. It's such a simple, stylish combination, and, with practicality in mind, perfectly lightweight so ideal for the little heatwave which we're having at the moment. We all know that I can't resist a statement necklace, and this season Accessorize have a really lovely selection. This bib style is a fantastically versatile spend, and is something which would prove a real failsafe in helping to update some old favourites.

I've been on the lookout for some pretty new earrings for a while (as well as deliberating whether or not to get another piercing!) These ones from Warehouse are small but perfectly formed, and I love their subtle splash of colour. A summer wardrobe wouldn't be complete without a staple pair of sunglasses (or seven in my case!), and when I was in & Other Stories a few weeks ago so many pretty pairs caught my attention. As far as I'm concerned, you can't beat a good old fashioned cat eye- and I have a feeling that this pretty pink pair will be making their way into my collection before too long! Finally, a key footwear investment for this season is undoubtedly the slider sandal- I've had this pair from River Island for about a month or so now and have more or less lived in them since I bought them- so so comfortable!

What do you think of my picks?
