23.04.2015- Spring Style: Statement Chic

Whilst I'm a huge fan of simple, understated pieces, sometimes it's good to mix things up a bit and be a tad more adventurous with your wardrobe. Investing in a carefully curated selection of statement pieces is a great way to elevate your existing wardrobe staples and I always think that spring provides the perfect opportunity to be a little bit more adventurous, whether it's experimenting with a new colour palette or trialling a particular trend. I've had my eye on a few statement favourites over the last few weeks, and with the change of seasons well and truly in the air, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to share them with you:

The Loveheart Coat, £135, Tara Starlet/Kimono Dress, £115, Ganni/Dinosaur Print Shirt, £45 and Dinosaur Print Skirt, £40, both The Whitepepper (via Topshop)/Flower Vine Earcuff, £6.50, Miss Selfridge/Embellished Necklace, £25, Accessorize/Leather Bucket Bag, £95, & Other Stories/Round Sunglasses, £17.99, Zara/Keds Floral Lace Ups, £45, Oasis/Pink Cotton Rainbow Collar, £110, Vivetta at Avenue 32

First thing's first- how absolutely dreamy is this coat from Tara Starlet?!! It's been on my radar for a little while, and as far as statement pieces go it certainly packs a pretty perfect punch, don't you think? I absolutely adore the contrasting collar and pocket details, and the 60s inspired swing shape is perfect for tapping in to a vintage inspired aesthetic. Well and truly one which I'm going to be saving my pennies for! If you're looking to add some bold prints to your wardrobe, then Ganni's new season drop is definitely one to investigate more closely. This colourful kimono dress has got summer holiday printed all over it.

Speaking of prints, this two piece from The Whitepepper is another combination which I've been umming and aahing over. The dinosaur design is wonderfully quirky and really fun- and perhaps the perfect investment if you're as excited about the new Jurassic Park film as I am! On the other hand, if you're after something a tad more subtle then investing in some statement jewellery is a great option. I've got a couple of ear cuffs in my collection and am well and truly converted- so this design from Miss Selfridge is firmly fixed on my shopping list. Regular readers will also be well aware that I'm a huge fan of a statement necklace, and my collection is well and truly in need of a few new additions. I spotted this colourful style in Accessorize last week and am pretty sure I'll be making a bee-line for it once payday arrives as it's just perfect for summer.

If spring has provided you with a welcome opportunity to overhaul your accessories and invest in some new key pieces, then you'd be hard pushed to go wrong with & Other Stories. Not only is their ready to wear collection ticking all of the right boxes at the moment, but their offering of key statement outfit additions is also seriously worth investigating. This vivid red bag initially caught my eye because of the gorgeous colour, but upon closer inspection it looks like it could be the long lost cousin of the much coveted Mansur Gavriel styles- no bad thing in my book! If a new pair of statement sunglasses are on your spring shopping list, then I'd really recommend checking out what Zara have on offer- these multicoloured frames are pretty special, don't you think?

If practicality is paramount for you but you still want to embrace some vivid new season prints, then the colourful new collaboration between Oasis and Keds is well worth exploring. Not only are the shoes ultra comfortable and perfect for hot footing it from a to b in no time flat, but the designs are really fun and great for pepping up some more simple basic pieces. Finally, if you want to invest in a real multipurpose purchase then look further than this incredible collar from Vivetta- perfect for adding another dimension to staples like the classic white shirt, don't you think?

Have you invested in any statement pieces for spring?
