23.11.2016- Literary Lookbook: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Unless you've been avoiding The Daily Prophet completely over the last few weeks, you won't need to be a divination master to have been swept up in the frenzy of all things Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The opportunity to delve back into J.K Rowling's magical world is one which I've been anticipating for what feels like forever, and, having seen the film last Friday, it definitely didn't disappoint. Not only is the story told with enormous heart and guided by great performances, it also offers a completely fresh aesthetic experience, from the fantastic beasts in question to the appearance of both magical and non-magical (no-maj?!) Manhattan. With that in mind, it will probably come as no surprise at all that I'm now obsessed with giving my wardrobe an injection of magic inspired by the film too:

Velvet Dress, £69, Marks and Spencer/Printed Blouse with Bow, £25.99, Zara/Rain Bead Detail Trousers, £150, Whistles/Crepe Frock Coat, £59.99, Zara/Blush Crush Velvet Top, £52, Sister Jane/Scattered Star Ear Crawler, £15, Accessorize/Sequinned Headband, £15.99, Zara/Woodland Watch, £70, Olivia Burton/Somerset by Alice Temperley Brogues, £95, John Lewis.

This gorgeous velvet dress from Marks and Spencer is a piece which I think really captures a slice of the elegance which permeates the film. The contrasting detail puts me in mind of the aesthetic of MACUSA- although a wand permit isn't required to wear! Keeping things smart (and taking inspiration from Tina aka my new favourite character), this Zara blouse is a timeless piece- and I love the gold detailing too. Tapping into some true 1920s inspiration, these trousers from Whistles are a magical option for embracing luxe loose tailoring- as well as being an investment buy which would impress even the thriftiest of Gringotts employees.

You can rarely go wrong with a classic black jacket, and this Zara design is a brilliant basic buy. As well as being wonderfully cut, it's got plenty of pocket space/room for your magical miscellany! Pink velvet will always and forever now be synonymous with Queenie Goldstein, and this blouse from Sister Jane would look wonderfully at home in her wardrobe, don't you think? Making a magical statement, this ear cuff from Accessorize, because you really can't go wrong with stars- especially at this time of the year. With another touch of 20s chic, this sequinned headband from Zara- Giggle water not included! With a nod to yet more fantastic beasts, this Olivia Burton watch is a must have for all budding magizoologists, and these vintage inspired brogues from John Lewis would certainly have you chasing down an Erumpent in style!

Have you discovered any new style inspiration recently?
