10.07.2019- An Ireland Photo Diary, May 2019

Wednesday, 10 July 2019

A little over a month ago, I arrived home from a lovely long weekend in Northern Ireland with Hannah and Steve. As well as visiting some old favourites and exploring the stunning scenery of the Causeway Coast (including some classic Game of Thrones locations), we also visited some new destinations, including the beautiful Rathlin Island where we saw puffins nesting (an actual dream come true for me and the perfect opportunity to indulge my inner David Attenborough!) This trip also incorporated some new food and drink and favourites, and a first-time visit to Derry and Donegal for me:

Rathlin Island was beautiful, and I'm so glad we made a point of making it there on the ferry- it's home to only a hundred or so people, so is my idea of absolute heaven! There's a lot more of the island which we didn't get to explore, so it's definitely one worth revisiting too. Other discoveries this time included Ursa Minor Bakehouse in Ballycastle, which was a perfect destination for brunch, Cowbog in Derry for some delicious sustenance before heading home, Carnlough in Ballymena and Glenveagh National Park in County Donegal, home to some truly otherworldly scenery and definitely a part of Ireland I'd love to revisit again.

If you're planning a trip to the Causeway Coast soon, then Hannah has created the best guide over on her blog- well worth a read and a cheeky bookmark!

Have you got any trips planned for this summer?
