15.07.2019- Travel Talk: A Stay at Travelodge Central, Edinburgh

Monday, 15 July 2019

As well as visiting the beautiful Causeway Coast (as posted about last week), at the end of June I managed to squeeze in another short staycation- this time to Scotland! Accompanied by my lovely friend Katharine, we visited Edinburgh, Argyll and Bute, Loch Lomond and Glasgow over five days, which was fantastic as it afforded us the chance to balance some city-based exploration with some glorious time in the great outdoors. I’d visited Edinburgh back in 2013 for a fleeting trip, so it was lovely to be back and be able to revisit some familiar sights and discover some new haunts. Having a base in the centre of the city always makes such a difference on trips like this too, and Travelodge Edinburgh Central proved to be the perfect stop for the two days we were there:

Situated on St. Mary’s Street, the hotel is ideally located right in the middle of the city, sandwiched between Cowgate and The Royal Mile- meaning attractions such as Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Park are a matter of minutes away on foot. As well as that, it’s also just a short walk around the corner from Edinburgh Waverley Station and Waverley Bridge Bus Stop, so is really convenient whether you’re travelling to the city by train or on the bus from the airport. Our SuperRoom was lovely and comfortable, with all of the amenities you’d need for a short stay- including an iron, ironing board and television, as well as coffee machine and kettle- the absolute dream! Recently refurbished as a Travelodge Plus, our room also incorporated light and airy decor, with bedside charging ports and an option of pillows depending on preference- definitely something which you really appreciate after lugging a suitcase around! We were on a slightly quieter floor too which was ideal for maximising on sleep time, and the complimentary breakfast was fantastic too, as were the staff who couldn’t have been more helpful. All in all, a great stay, and somewhere I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

*Our stay at Travelodge Edinburgh Central was very kindly gifted. As always, my opinions and impressions are 100% honest.

Have you visited Edinburgh?
