16.03.2020- Beauty Buys: Outdoor Skincare Essentials

Over recent months, I’ve been spending a lot more time outdoors, thanks mainly to preparing for Trekstock’s Hadrian’s Wall Challenge! It’s been really lovely to be outside in the fresh air at a time of year when I’d usually favour being tucked up inside with a book or a box set, and having a physical challenge to focus on for the first few months of 2020 has definitely gone some way to assuage my start of year anxiety. Having said that, being exposed to the elements more than usual has definitely taken a little bit of a toll on my skin- meaning that I’ve been deploying some outdoor-proof favourites to make sure my face gets the tlc it needs:

I use Glossier’s Invisible Shield every morning as part of my usual routine, but I’ve been diligently upping how much I apply on days when I’ve been training outside. It’s the perfect daily essential- especially as it’s so light and non greasy- definitely highly recommended if you’re in the market for an everyday sunscreen. Similarly Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm is another must, and something which I stash in my pocket before heading out when I’ve got a big walk in prospect.

A couple of new additions to my routine which I’m trialling at the moment come in the shape of Elemis’ Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm and Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, both of which I’m getting on really well with. The cleansing balm is perfect for gently taking away all of the day’s toxins and environmental agitators without being at all abrasive, and the marine cream is perfect for adding a slightly thicker layer of protection than my usual go-to; it’s also particularly good for applying before bedtime. Finally, a slightly more luxurious addition from Drunk Elephant- their facial oil which is ideal for deploying post-shower for combat dryness and fatigue. I’m sure I’ll be adding some more to this stash over the next few weeks and months, so do let me know if you have any recommendations!
