06.07.2020- Socially Distanced Diaries: An Afternoon at Painshill Park

Monday, 6 July 2020

It's strange to look back to the start of lockdown from this point, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who feels like the last three months have passed by in something of a blur. Until recently, every day has more or less felt the same, but as the restrictions we've been living under since March have gradually been starting to ease, I've been lucky enough to be able to slowly start catching up with some friends who don't live too far away at some lovely outdoor locations. My first trip outside of my postcode in three months was to Painshill Park, to catch up with my brilliant pal (and former office buddy!) Katharine:

Having visited Painshill back in the autumn, it was so lovely to be there on a sunny spring day, and see everything bursting into life. We had a completely hassle-free experience, having booked a time slot in advance online and enjoying everything at an appropriate social distance. It was great to see plenty of new loos set up (honestly, finding toilets in lockdown is next level tough!), and visiting on a weekday afternoon meant that the park was almost empty- it felt like such a treat to be there after so long of being in one place! Catching up with Katharine after so long was just lovely too, and I can't tell you how much of a boost this little outing made to my overall mood.

Have you managed to catch up with anyone yet?
