24.07.2020- Lockdown Lunch #13: Monica Beatrice Welburn-Leggett

Another week, another installment of my lockdown lunch series! I've really loved pulling this strand of content together- it's been such a joy to connect with so many amazing people in the virtual sphere since the start of lockdown, and for me it's definitely really evoked the early spirit of blogging- people getting together online for a good chat over some common ground! Although lockdown is easing, I'm still really keen to keep this series going- and, after receiving some sad news about my job earlier in the week, I'm sure it'll certainly be a welcome distraction as I try to navigate what might be next for me.

My guest this week is the wonderful Monica Beatrice Welburn-Leggett. I've been lucky enough to meet and work with Monica through work, but have been an admirer of her beautiful blog for as long as I can remember. Her gorgeously curated lifestyle content is a total treat to consume, and I've been loving all of her practical posts and advice for life during lockdown, including one of her most recent about advice for a small wedding celebration and her run down of ten things which have been making the last few months brighter

How are you coping with things at the moment?
I feel very fortunate to have already been working from home, in a digital environment, when everything went into lockdown; so for me and my work not much changed. That being said, everything else did! And so I tried to ease into the ebbs and flow of the season, without too much pressure. On a whole I feel like this time has made me appreciate the small joys in life a lot more, and treasure connections with people.

What are you missing most about life?

There's not a huge amount I am missing right now. I feel
like the slower pace has been a good lesson for everyone, and it's one that I hope to take forward with me even after things have eased up further.

Which foods/recipes have you been reaching for?

Home-made granola (recipe here), lots of chopped salads, and Mediterranean tray bakes. Anything light and summery!

What small things are making you happy?

Making evenings at home feel more special by laying the table with linen, napkins, candles, and adding music to the background. It makes staying in feel like going out! Also: an evening drink outside, when the weather is good, is heaven!

What's have you been enjoying as lockdown has eased?

Seeing friends and family! There is nothing like being in someone's company to really feel connected. A walk + takeaway coffee is my new favourite friend date!

A huge thank you to Monica for taking part! Be sure to follow her blog here, and find her on Instagram here. She's also the co-host of the wonderful Let's Discuss podcast which you can find out more about here
