27.07.2020- Socially Distanced Diaries: Mayfield Lavender Farm

The start of another week in this strange, limbo-like situation. After four months of waiting, last week I received some bad news about my job which I’m still feeling slightly befuddled by, which is why I think it’s been even more important than ever to make plans to catch up with friends- although I’m sure that I’ll find plenty of time to wallow in whatever comes to pass over the next few weeks. Whilst I get ready for what’s next, here’s a look back to a lovely socially-distanced meet up from last week, as I caught up with my dear friend Liz for a picturesque afternoon surrounded by purple:

Mayfield Lavender is a haunt which both of us are very familiar with as we live not too far away. Over the last few years, this purple corner of sunny south London has really rocketed in terms of popularity- resulting in an extremely busy car park, as well as a rise in entrance fee. With social distancing measures in place, the site is offering a full array of goodies available in the shop, as well as lots of tempting treats to eat. We visited mid-week and were both very surprised at how busy it was, so I’d suggesting visiting early on a Monday or Tuesday to be able to make the most of the experience. We ended up staying for just over an hour and supplemented our meet-up with a walk down to the nearest town for a cold drink- which made me realise that actually, it’s the company, rather than the location which is more important.

Have you met up with any friends recently?
