14.09.2020- Most Wanted: New Season Staples

Monday, 14 September 2020

Although it might not feel like it today (hello, 29 degrees in September!), autumn is well and truly on the horizon. Although it feels strange as heck to be headed into the final quarter of the year with so much of it having been spent living in limbo (and largely indoors!), there is something quite nice about a feeling of change in the air, although I'm sure I won't be saying that when it's getting dark and 4pm and I'm sat here bundled up in layer after layer of knitwear. Whilst trying to predict how the year is likely to end is as impossible as keeping track of the government's once again updated guidance, seeing some new season pieces appear online is really refreshing, and it'll come as no surprise that I've been doing a spot of fantasy window shopping in between staring into the existential void of realising that the first year of my thirties has, on the whole, been spent more or less in the same postcode! Here's a peek at what I'm loving the look of for the season ahead:
Alodia Ruffled Blouse, £90, Anthropologie / Cable Knit Ruffle Collar Sweater, £85, & Other Stories / Navy Satin Skirt, £79, Ghost / Bellerose Knitted Striped Jumper, £155, The Hambledon / Wildflower 2021 Diary, £21.99, Papier / Cashmere Blend Socks, £24, Oliver Bonas / Fold Up Wool Beanie, £29, Arket / Mystic Simple Stone Huggies in Gold, £49, Astrid & Miyu / Adidas Stan Smith Trainers in Glory Pink, £69.99, Office

Whilst I've just realised that most of this edit is blue (sorry not sorry!), it's full of pieces which I've seen over the last week weeks and love, so I think it's justifiable! First up, this blue frilled shirt from Anthropologie- I love the detailing and the colour is perfect too. I'd love to style this under some dungarees or with a midi skirt but can imagine it looking just as great with jeans for a more casual feel. Next, this jumper of dreams from & Other Stories which caught my eye when I was browsing their website a few weeks ago. Again, the colour is heavenly, and this lovely ice blue is a wonderfully refreshing alternative to lots of the darker shades which tend to dominate my winter wardrobe- plus the wool is sustainably sourced too.

I've been on the lookout for a longer line navy midi skirt for what feels like ages now, and, thanks to Ghost, I've finally found one! This design is perfect for a go-to smart option, but would also be a great essential for dressing down with a t-shirt, cardigan and trainers for the weekend. Another weekend-ready favourite comes in the shape of this beautiful Bellerose knit, which I adore and is definitely well worth saving up for.

Forward planning for 2021 might be a little bit optimistic just now, but I'm still trying to keep looking on the bright side as much as I can. So many of 2020's plans and activities have been postponed or curtailed, so investing in a new diary to keep track of them seems like a sensible plan for now- although I may tentatively be writing things in in pencil for a while yet. One of the pluses about this time of year is that it's the start of cosy season, so the perfect opportunity to treat yourself to some fresh comfortable favourites. These sock from Oliver Bonas will really update any lounging game to seriously luxe territory, and are sure to see you through the winter through to next year in style. Similarly, this pretty in in pink hat from Arket is a brilliant buy if you're looking to pep up last season's outerwear with some fresh accessories- I'm super tempted to treat myself as I think it would look brilliant with my camel coat!

With accessories in mind, I've got a new piercing on the brain- although I can't quite decide which part of my ear to get done! Whilst looking for some inspiration, I came across these beautiful huggie hoops from Astrid & Miyu, which I might end up popping on my birthday list before long. Finally, after my old Stan Smiths gave up the ghost a few weeks ago, I've been looking for a fresh pair, and these pink-accented partnership are very firmly fixed on my radar.

Have you been shopping around for some new season favourites?
